If You See Something, Say Something: Polling Place Moderators and the Connecticut Election Day Hotline Are Here to Help

(Hartford, Connecticut) — Voters play an important role in helping keep Connecticut's elections safe, secure, and fair. If they see something that doesn't look right, encounter a problem casting their ballot, or suspect a voting irregularity, speaking up can help election officials address concerns quickly.
With Election Day tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3, the Office of the Secretary of the State (SOTS) and the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) remind voters that help is available both at their polling place and through the state's Election Day hotline. Voters who encounter a problem at the polls are encouraged to first speak with their polling place moderator, who is responsible for overseeing voting operations, addressing concerns, and helping ensure eligible voters can cast their ballots.
Voters who witness suspected voting irregularities can contact SEEC’s Election Day hotline by phone at 1-866-733-2463 (1-866-SEEC-INFO) or by email at Elections@CT.gov from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
People with general questions can also find trusted voting information on the Secretary of the State’s website at MyVote.CT.gov.
“The right to vote depends on every eligible voter being able to cast a ballot freely and with confidence,” Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas said. “If you encounter a problem at your polling place, please ask to speak with the moderator before leaving. They are there to help. And if something does not look right, or you have concerns about potential wrongdoing, speak up. The Election Day hotline is another resource to make sure those concerns reach the appropriate officials.”
The State Elections Enforcement Commission is Connecticut’s independent, nonpartisan agency responsible for investigating and enforcing the state’s election laws. As Connecticut’s chief elections official, the Secretary of the State and her Office are nonpartisan and oversee Connecticut’s elections. They work with local Registrars of Voters and Town Clerks to support election administration in all 169 of the state’s municipalities.
Eligible voters can confirm their polling location and find additional election information at MyVote.CT.gov.
